1. All set.

March 29 and it's time to leave. After much discussion and planning we're saying goodbye to our neighbours and friends here in Europe, the necessary agreements have been sought and approved, all the paperwork is in place, and we've stocked up on medications, supplies and snacks for the journey.

But enough about Brexit....we are heading westwards, initially to the USA and then beyond, eventually crossing both the International Date Line and the Equator before returning home. Hopefully the aforementioned B word won't cause too many queues or delays at Heathrow when we fly out to Los Angeles prior to boarding the Star Princess (although I have to say that the extended exit date will help). It could be a different matter getting back into the country later though.

As the trip takes us half way around the world, I thought it would be an idea to mark the distance officially by beginning the trip (and my narrative) from the Greenwich Meridian, at 0 degrees longitude. I know this all sounds a bit Michael Palin-ish but I'm getting in there first.

So, if you, dear reader, would like to know where we are going and what adventures we are hoping to undertake, feel free to check in on this blog page every now and again as I will be doing my best to keep it updated...wifi connectivity allowing of course.

And don't forget, there is always the bridgecam and ship's current position which can be viewed by clicking here if it's not dark!
